Keel for India’s first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC), was laid by Defence Minister Shri AK Antony at Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) in Kochi on February 28. The IAC is scheduled to be completed by 2014. This marks India as the fourth nation in the world to have the capability of designing and building 40,000 tonne aircraft_carrier aircraft carriers.
