China Ready To Deploy Aircraft Carrier

Open Source photos have finally appeared of the Chinese ski jump test facility, and it looks like they have at least one FLANKER test article. The one ground-level picture had appeared a few months back, but when I asked xinhui and others for the location, the only answer I could get was the Shenyang test facility. That was not correct. Now for the first time that I have seen, someone has gotten a hold of recent overhead imagery of the Xian-Yanliang test facility, which is where this ramp was built within the last couple years.

Brazilian aircraft carrier São Paulo (A12)

NAe São Paulo (A12) is a Clemenceau class aircraft carrier of the Brazilian Navy, formerly the French Foch. It was built in 1957 and was purchased from France in 2000.

São Paulo is the flagship of the Brazilian Navy. It replaced the World War II-era carrier Minas Gerais, which was in commission for over 40 years. The São Paulo is newer, bigger, faster and has greater operational capacity than its predecessor.

Out of the nine countries (Brazil, France, India, Italy, Russia, Spain, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States) that currently have aircraft carriers or amphibious assault vessels equipped with flight decks, only four (Brazil, France, USA, and Russia) have embarked aircraft of conventional type (CTOL), while the other five operate STOL/VTOL aircraft only.

Russia plans to purchase French-made Mistral helicopter carrier

Russia plans to purchase a French naval helicopter transport ship this year and is interested in jointly producing more of the vessels, the head of Russia's armed forces said. Mistral Class ship has the payload capacity to carry up to 16 heavy helicopters and one-third of a mechanised regiment, plus two LCAC hovercraft or up to four landing craft.Mistral Class ships can carry sufficient stores for the crew and 450 troops for 45 days between replenishments.

"We are working on agreements that would allow us to produce and purchase this ship," General Nikolai Makarov told reporters, referring to the French-made Mistral heavy helicopter carrier. He declined to specify a price for the purchase. Asked when the deal would be finalized, however, Makarov said: "This year." Makarov said the discussions so far concerned purchase by Russia of one of the French-made vessels, an amphibious force projection and command ship that can carry up to 16 heavy helicopters as well as hovercraft and landing craft.

But he indicated that talks were in progress on possible future joint production of several more of the sophisticated warships. "We also want to establish production of a series of at least four or five ships of this class," he said. Makarov said the Russian navy did not currently possess this kind of ship, which is costly and complicated to build, and would therefore look for a supplier outside Russia. "No country in the world can do everything" on its own, he said. "Something will have to be purchased" abroad.

Iran is able to build aircraft carrier

After the launch Iran's first indigenous ocean-going container ship, dubbed "Iran-Arak", Its reasonable to say that the country ow can build its own aircraft carrier, at least a light one or in Amphibious LPD class. Many countries has tried to build aircraft carrier for supporting operation in the sea as landing platform for helicopters, light aircraft and UAV as done by Japan, Korea and so on.

Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex Co. (ISOICO) has manufactured the 7,500-ton container ship, which can accelerate to 32 knots (59.3 Km/h) and is able to sail 25 days non-stop.

PT PAL Luncurkan LPD Pesanan Dephan

PT PAL Indonesia meluncurkan kapal jenis Landing Platform Dock (LDP) senilai 15,9 juta dolar AS, pesanan Departemen Pertahanan (Dephan) untuk memperkuat TNI AL.

Indonesia Minimal Punya 4 Kapal Induk Untuk Bakor Kamla

Seperti musibah hercules. Baru buru-buru TNI ingin membeli 4 hercules bekas. Mengapa tidak dari dulu.

Indonesia Mampu Membuat Kapal Induk

Indonesia Harus Punya Kapal Induk

AEGIS AWD + LHD… for ROK

Australia isn’t the only Pacific Rim country looking to modernize its Navy these days. China’s rapid shipbuilding program and work on its aircraft carrier project gets a lot of attention – but just to the east, South Korea is fielding its own AEGIS-equipped “air warfare destroyer,” while picking up new capabilities via a new class of amphibious assault LHD ship. Sound familiar? Hobart and Canberra Class, meet the KDX-III King Sejong Class AEGIS destroyer (launched May 2007) and the new “LPH” Dokdo Class LHD (commissioned July 2007).

HTMS Chakri Naruebet

It is based on the Spanish carrier Principe de Asturias and was built in Ferrol, Spain, by Spanish shipbuilders Izar (EN Bazan) between 1994-1996. It was delivered to Thailand in 1997. The ship is largely inactive due to a shortage of funds after the Asian financial crisis. However the ship has participated in training, and in disaster relief after the 2004 tsunami. The carrier's main role is Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance and search and rescue.

Aircraft carrier is a warship designed to deploy and recover aircraft

An aircraft carrier is a warship designed to deploy and recover aircraft — in effect acting as a sea-going airbase. Aircraft carriers thus allow a naval force to project air power great distances without having to depend on local bases for land-based aircraft.

Modern navies that operate such ships treat aircraft carriers as the capital ship of the fleet, a role previously played by the battleship. The change, part of the growth of air power as a significant part of warfare, took place during World War II. A battleship could fire hundreds of large caliber shells at a target and score possibly a dozen hits. Their maximum range was usually no more than thirty miles. However, an aircraft launched from a carrier could deliver "smart weapons" accurately at a range of over one hundred miles. Thus, the aircraft carrier could perform the original mission of the battleship, causing heavy damage to an enemy fleet at great distance and with superior accuracy.

RI Akan Membuat Kapal Induk
